Certification for the Teaching of P4C, with validation by FAPSA.

On 3 October 2007, the first graduation ceremony for 17 teachers who successfully completed the Level 1 Certificate requirements, with the certification validated by FAPSA (Federation of Australasian Philosophy in Schools Associations). This was carried out in collaboration with Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary). To be awarded the certificate, the 17 teachers, in addition to completing 4 training modules in P4C, had submitted written assignments together with video-taped samples of lessons to two assessors in Australia who gave detailed comments -- one of whom is the immediate past president of FAPSA and the other a philosophy professor from the University of New South Wales. Also present at Certificate-Awarding event was Mr Roger Sutcliffe, President of SAPERE in UK (Society for the Advancement of Philosophical Enquiry and Reflection in Education). Mr Sutcliffe gave a talk on “What May Be Learnt from Doing P4C in the UK?”. The talk was very well received.
